AN UPDATE FROM MAST YOUNG PLANTS RE: FED EX SHIPMENTS

This season has presented several different and overlapping shipping challenges:

  • Since the first of year, FedEx has been restricting how many pounds per day we can ship Express
  • FedEx also limits us on master boxes via Express Freight on Mondays, as they only use that service for medical shipments that day
  • The week 5 storm backed up FedEx’s LTL network and we are hearing of significant delays and restrictions on live plant shipments. The week 6 weather was excellent for shipping, but the FedEx network was backlogged 3-5 days and they refused to pick up any live plant shipments.

You may recall that after last year’s massive storm and subsequent shipping backlog MYP began integrating with UPS so that we would have additional shipping options in the event of another FedEx shipping crisis.

That integration took much longer than planned, but we are pleased to announce it is now online and some of our small box shipments will go out via UPS in week 7. We have tracking set up so it can be viewed via EPICAS in the same way as FedEx tracking. We wanted to send this notification to be transparent about how the boxes will be delivered this year.  The pricing we sent out last fall remains the same as far as overnight, 2-day, Ground, etc.

We remain appreciative of your partnership and support.

Brian Weesies, on behalf of the staff at Mast Young Plants
